Private Lesson FAQ

How do I book a lesson with you?

By visiting my Calendly page! I use Calendly so that we don’t have to exchange a million emails about when we’re both available — you can just take a look at my teaching schedule and pick a time that works for you.

I update my availability regularly. Send me a message here if you want to receive an email whenever I open new lesson slots — just put “PRIVATE LESSON SIGNUP” in the subject line.

I want to take regular lessons every week. Can I do that?

Not with me. My calendar is very irregular, so scheduling lessons individually is what works best for me. However, you are more than welcome to book multiple lesson slots. If you’re cool with slightly sporadic lessons, then I would love to work with you!

I looked at your Calendly and none of the times work for me, but I really want a lesson!

I am not able to schedule lessons on dates that are marked “unavailable,” but I may be able to move lessons around on my teaching days. Send me a message if this is the case.

What do you charge for private lessons?

I charge on a sliding scale of $60-80 per hour.

Do you teach voice lessons?

I do not know enough about vocal technique to teach private voice lessons. Believe me, I have tried, and I’m not good at it! I can, however, teach harmony singing.

Do you teach songwriting lessons?

Yes!!

Do you teach kids?

Yes, but I prefer to teach kids over 10.

Do you teach beginners?

Yes, but I strongly recommend in-person lessons for beginners.

Can I study more than one instrument with you?

Yes, but probably not in the same lesson. One hour is not very long!

What’s your cancellation policy?

If you cancel within 24 hours, I ask that you pay 50% of your lesson fee. If you don’t show up for the lesson within 15 minutes and you don’t contact me, it will be counted as a no-show and I will ask that you pay the full lesson fee. I can make exceptions in case of emergencies.

I have another question!

I’m honestly shocked you even read all of this, but ok — send me a message!
